Celebrate Franco Heritage - La Basilique Lewiston

Dear Friend,

The nomination by the Vatican of the Saint Peter and Saint Paul Church in Lewiston as a basilica in 2004 and its inauguration in 2005 were important milestones for the Franco-American community. The elegant structure, which had recently been renovated, is a landmark in Lewiston.

Click on the following link to see Maine Memory Network's newest exhibit, "La Basilique Lewiston," which was created by Contributing Partner, the Franco-American Collection at Lewiston-Auburn College.

After reading the Basilica exhibit, check out the "Chinese in Maine" exhibit. The first day of the 15-day Chinese New Year celebration is Sunday, January 29. This exhibit is a good way to give that celebration more meaning as you examine some of the history of Maine's Chinese population.

Thank you for your continuing interest in and support of the Maine Memory Network and the Maine Historical Society. The MHS is a private non-profit organization dependent, in large part, on the support of its membership. If you would like to help us sustain the Maine Memory Network, as well as receive many other benefits, please consider becoming a member. Just go to

We hope you enjoy this new exhibit about the basilica and the people behind it.
Sincerely,
The Maine Memory Network
